The Devon is known for high quality beef, and the breed's hardiness and grazing ability makes it an excellent choice for grass based production. The Devon is distantly related to the other British and European breeds found in North America, so it provides great hybrid vigor. We use Devon bulls to cross breed with our Angus cows.
Angus cattle are a breed of cattle commonly used in meat production that are known for their high equality beef. They were developed from cattle native to the counties of Aberdeenshire and Angus in Scotland. The majority of our herd is pure Angus or Angus Devon crosses.
Katahdins are a breed of meat sheep developed in the United States. They are hardy, adaptable, low-maintenance sheep that produce superior lamb crops and lean, meaty carcasses. They do not produce a fleece and therefore do not require shearing.
The Gloucestershire Old Spots is a black and white pig that originated in England. At one time, they were called the Orchard Pig because they were partially raised on windfall apples and whey. They are renowned as good foragers or grazers. We don't breed these here on the farm. We buy piglets locally from a friend to fulfill our pre-orders.
